You might find the following plants in a Vermont food forest. These are all routinely available through many garden suppliers.
In areas with an annual rainfall of between 16 and 80 inches, you might find the pin cherry, which is Native to VT.
Known as having a Low drought tolerance, the pin cherry (Prunus pensylvanica) is in the Rose family. It requires a minimum temperature of -38°F.
The fruit/seed period of the pin cherry runs from Summer to Summer. It si propogated by Bare root, Container, Cuttings, Seed and has a bloom period in Mid Spring.
Not every plant species listed as a food forest candidate in Vermont will thrive in your specific climate or area.
Take a weekend trip to your local garden supply store and learn more about which plants, shrubs and ground cover will be a great fit for your food forest.
