The Nanking cherry (Prunus tomentosa) is in the Rose family. It’s drought tolerance is Medium and requires a minimum temperature of -38°F.
The Nanking cherry is propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed. With a bloom period in Late Spring, the fruit/seed period begins in Summer and ends in Summer.
The Nanking cherry is Introduced to UT. It requires precipitation between 24 and 40 inches of rain annually.
While a plant species may generally thrive and fruit in Utah, you may be in a climate that isn’t optimal.
Consult your local garden supplier or continue researching in order to find plants, shrubs and ground cover that match your specific hardiness zone, rainfall and direct sun.
