About Shampoo

If you’re a dandruff sufferer, you do not have to stick with common conventional shampoos to stay flake free. Itchy, dry scalps can be helped with organic shampoo – and you will not have to worry about strong chemicals further drying and irritating your scalp. Look for moisturizing ingredients like coconut oil, and healing botanicals like tea tree.

Your North Carolina Food Forest

Your garden can supply an abundance of food – seeds, nuts, fruits and more compromise a “food forest”.   A food forest is a multi-layered composition of food-producing plants.  It is ideally low-maintenance and produces a wealth of edibles.

Want to eat more organic food? A food forest is a great way to do that.

Permaculture design identifies seven layers in a food forest, from the tallest trees in the canopy continuing down below the soil layer.

There are many varieties of plants that are routinely available in North Carolina garden centers, including a few examples below.

Surviving in temperatures above -27°F, the sassafras is in the Laurel family. It’s scientific name is Sassafras albidum, and it has a High drought tolerance.

The sassafras has a Late Spring bloom period. Propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed, Sprigs, the fruit/seed period of the sassafras lasts from Summer to Summer.

The sassafras requires between 30 and 80 inches of rain per annum. It is Native to NC.

While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in North Carolina, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.

Talking to your local garden supplier is a great way to learn more about the plants, shrubs and ground species that will be the perfect fit for your new food forest.

Are you growing an awesome food forest? Submit a picture and we may feature you on this site.
