Surviving in temperatures above 7°F, the redbay is in the Laurel family. It’s scientific name is Persea borbonia, and it has a Low drought tolerance.
The redbay requires between 40 and 80 inches of rain per annum. It is Native to NC.
The redbay has a Late Spring bloom period. Propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed, the fruit/seed period of the redbay lasts from Summer to Fall.
While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in North Carolina, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.
