About Milk

Regular organic milk is delicious, of course, but for a special treat, try organic chocolate milk! This scrumptiously silky, sweet milk is flavored with organic chocolate and sweet-ened with organic sugars – so your indulgence is free of hormones, GMOs, pesticides, and other unsavory ingredients. Go on, pour yourself a glass.

Your Minnesota Food Forest

Your garden can supply an abundance of food – seeds, nuts, fruits and more compromise a “food forest”.   A food forest is a multi-layered composition of food-producing plants.  It is ideally low-maintenance and produces a wealth of edibles.

Want to eat more organic food? A food forest is a great way to do that.

Permaculture design identifies seven layers in a food forest, from the tallest trees in the canopy continuing down below the soil layer.

There are many varieties of plants that are routinely available in Minnesota garden centers, including a few examples below.

Surviving in temperatures above 47°F, the sorghum is in the Grass family. It’s scientific name is Sorghum bicolor, and it has a High drought tolerance.

The sorghum requires between 18 and 60 inches of rain per annum. It is Introduced to MN.

The sorghum has a Late Summer bloom period. Propogated by Seed, the fruit/seed period of the sorghum lasts from Summer to Fall.

While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in Minnesota, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.

Talking to your local garden supplier is a great way to learn more about the plants, shrubs and ground species that will be the perfect fit for your new food forest.

Are you growing an awesome food forest? Submit a picture and we may feature you on this site.

Milk Info

Some organic milk comes from grass fed cows, for a boost of omega 3s and conjugated linoleic acid. These cows are not fed corn or soy, like most cows.
