The English walnut has a Mid Spring bloom period. Propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed, the fruit/seed period of the English walnut lasts from Summer to Fall.
The English walnut requires between 28 and 45 inches of rain per annum. It is Introduced to MI.
Surviving in temperatures above -8°F, the English walnut is in the Walnut family. It’s scientific name is Juglans regia, and it has a Medium drought tolerance.
While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in Michigan, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.
Talking to your local garden supplier is a great way to learn more about the plants, shrubs and ground species that will be the perfect fit for your new food forest.
