A member of the Honeysuckle family, the common name for Viburnum edule is squashberry. Requiring a minimum temperature of -62°F, it has a Low tolerance of drought.
Native to MI, the squashberry is common in food forests. It grows in areas with a minimum of 8 inches of annual rainfall.
You may live in a micro-climate or area of Michigan where some species don’t thrive or fruit.
