Surviving in temperatures above -43°F, the Jerusalem artichoke is in the Aster family. It’s scientific name is Helianthus tuberosus, and it has a High drought tolerance.
The Jerusalem artichoke requires between 15 and 55 inches of rain per annum. It is Native to MD.
While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in Maryland, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.
