Organic wineries that got a bad rap initially are now producing beautiful, complex, and delicious organic red wines. While there may be organic wineries that produce organic wines just for the organic market potential, there are also many wineries that have taken a back-to-traditions approach and created organic red wine worth drinking.

Permaculture design embraces food forests which have horizontal layers such as the canopy and a vertical layer such as vines.
You might find the following plants in a Louisiana food forest. These are all routinely available through many garden suppliers.
In areas with an annual rainfall of between 16 and 59 inches, you might find the soybean, which is Introduced to LA.
The fruit/seed period of the soybean runs from Summer to Fall. It si propogated by Seed and has a bloom period in Mid Summer.
Known as having a Medium drought tolerance, the soybean (Glycine max) is in the Pea family. It requires a minimum temperature of -28°F.
Not every plant species listed as a food forest candidate in Louisiana will thrive in your specific climate or area.
Take a weekend trip to your local garden supply store and learn more about which plants, shrubs and ground cover will be a great fit for your food forest.
