The American witchhazel (Hamamelis virginiana) is in the Witch-hazel family. It’s drought tolerance is Low and requires a minimum temperature of -28°F.
The American witchhazel is Native to KY. It requires precipitation between 30 and 60 inches of rain annually.
While a plant species may generally thrive and fruit in Kentucky, you may be in a climate that isn’t optimal.
Consult your local garden supplier or continue researching in order to find plants, shrubs and ground cover that match your specific hardiness zone, rainfall and direct sun.
