There are many varieties of plants that are routinely available in D.C. garden centers, including a few examples below.

Surviving in temperatures above 47°F, the cowpea is in the Pea family. It’s scientific name is Vigna unguiculata, and it has a None drought tolerance.

The cowpea has a Summer bloom period. Propogated by Seed, the fruit/seed period of the cowpea lasts from Summer to Fall.

The cowpea requires between 13 and 150 inches of rain per annum. It is Introduced to DC.
