Where To Buy Milk in Colorado

Some organic milk comes from grass fed cows, for a boost of omega 3s and conjugated linoleic acid. These cows are not fed corn or soy, like most cows.

About Milk

Are you lactose intolerant and missing the goodness of milk? Some farms produce lactose free organic milk, allowing you to enjoy the taste and nutrition of milk without the problems caused by lactose intolerance. This is done by including an enzyme that makes digesting lactose easier and more comfortable.

Your Colorado Food Forest

Your garden can supply an abundance of food – seeds, nuts, fruits and more compromise a “food forest”.   A food forest is a multi-layered composition of food-producing plants.  It is ideally low-maintenance and produces a wealth of edibles.

Want to eat more organic food? A food forest is a great way to do that.

Permaculture design identifies seven layers in a food forest, from the tallest trees in the canopy continuing down below the soil layer.

There are many varieties of plants that are routinely available in Colorado garden centers, including a few examples below.

The gooseberry currant has a Early Summer bloom period. Propogated by Bare root, Container, Cuttings, Seed, the fruit/seed period of the gooseberry currant lasts from Summer to Fall.

Surviving in temperatures above -3°F, the gooseberry currant is in the Currant family. It’s scientific name is Ribes montigenum, and it has a High drought tolerance.

The gooseberry currant requires between 10 and 35 inches of rain per annum. It is Native to CO.

While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in Colorado, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.

Talking to your local garden supplier is a great way to learn more about the plants, shrubs and ground species that will be the perfect fit for your new food forest.

Are you growing an awesome food forest? Submit a picture and we may feature you on this site.
