The Saskatoon serviceberry has a Early Summer bloom period. Propogated by Bare root, Container, Cuttings, Seed, the fruit/seed period of the Saskatoon serviceberry lasts from Summer to Fall.

The Saskatoon serviceberry requires between 12 and 140 inches of rain per annum. It is Native to BC.

Surviving in temperatures above -62°F, the Saskatoon serviceberry is in the Rose family. It’s scientific name is Amelanchier alnifolia, and it has a Low drought tolerance.

While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in British Columbia, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.

Talking to your local garden supplier is a great way to learn more about the plants, shrubs and ground species that will be the perfect fit for your new food forest.
