About Pet Beds

Make sure you get the right size of bed for your pet. If your pet is under 20 pounds, go with a small bed. If he is 40 pounds or higher, a medium bed will be best. Large beds are great for pets that are 120 pounds or larger. The right size bed will help your pet get a great night’s sleep.

Your British Columbia Food Forest

Your garden can supply an abundance of food – seeds, nuts, fruits and more compromise a “food forest”.   A food forest is a multi-layered composition of food-producing plants.  It is ideally low-maintenance and produces a wealth of edibles.

Want to eat more organic food? A food forest is a great way to do that.

Permaculture design identifies seven layers in a food forest, from the tallest trees in the canopy continuing down below the soil layer.

There are many varieties of plants that are routinely available in British Columbia garden centers, including a few examples below.

The pin cherry requires between 16 and 80 inches of rain per annum. It is Native to BC.

The pin cherry has a Mid Spring bloom period. Propogated by Bare root, Container, Cuttings, Seed, the fruit/seed period of the pin cherry lasts from Summer to Summer.

Surviving in temperatures above -38°F, the pin cherry is in the Rose family. It’s scientific name is Prunus pensylvanica, and it has a Low drought tolerance.

While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in British Columbia, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.

Talking to your local garden supplier is a great way to learn more about the plants, shrubs and ground species that will be the perfect fit for your new food forest.
