You might find the following plants in a Texas food forest. These are all routinely available through many garden suppliers.
In areas with an annual rainfall of between 40 and 60 inches, you might find the nutmeg hickory, which is Native to TX.
The fruit/seed period of the nutmeg hickory runs from Summer to Fall. It si propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed and has a bloom period in Mid Spring.
Known as having a Low drought tolerance, the nutmeg hickory (Carya myristiciformis) is in the Walnut family. It requires a minimum temperature of -10°F.
Not every plant species listed as a food forest candidate in Texas will thrive in your specific climate or area.
