The nutmeg hickory has a Mid Spring bloom period. Propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed, the fruit/seed period of the nutmeg hickory lasts from Summer to Fall.
Surviving in temperatures above -10°F, the nutmeg hickory is in the Walnut family. It’s scientific name is Carya myristiciformis, and it has a Low drought tolerance.
The nutmeg hickory requires between 40 and 60 inches of rain per annum. It is Native to TX.
While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in Texas, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.
