The fruit/seed period of the Texas redbud runs from Summer to Fall. It si propogated by Bare root, Container, Cuttings, Seed and has a bloom period in Early Spring.

Known as having a High drought tolerance, the Texas redbud (Cercis canadensis var. texensis) is in the Pea family. It requires a minimum temperature of -8°F.

In areas with an annual rainfall of between 16 and 80 inches, you might find the Texas redbud, which is Native to TX.

Not every plant species listed as a food forest candidate in Texas will thrive in your specific climate or area.

Take a weekend trip to your local garden supply store and learn more about which plants, shrubs and ground cover will be a great fit for your food forest.
