A member of the Maple family, the common name for Acer saccharinum is silver maple. Requiring a minimum temperature of -47°F, it has a Low tolerance of drought.
Propogated by Bare root, Container, Cuttings, Seed, the silver maple enjoys a bloom period in Early Spring. the fruit/seed period runs from Summer to Fall.
Native to SC, the silver maple is common in food forests. It grows in areas with a minimum of 20 inches of annual rainfall.
You may live in a micro-climate or area of South Carolina where some species don’t thrive or fruit.
