About Smoothies

Kids are not known to be the world’s biggest vegetable lovers. But a lot of them love milkshakes! Organic smoothies can be like a healthy milkshake for children. They come in kid friendly flavors like chocolate banana, strawberry, and berry, but they pack more nutritional punch than other kinds of dessert. Learn more about organic smoothies.

Can I Grow Organic Food in Blaine County?

Your garden can supply an abundance of food – seeds, nuts, fruits and more compromise a “food forest”.   A food forest is a multi-layered composition of food-producing plants.  It is ideally low-maintenance and produces a wealth of edibles.

Want to eat more organic food? A food forest is a great way to do that.

Permaculture design identifies seven layers in a food forest, from the tallest trees in the canopy continuing down below the soil layer.

There are many varieties of plants that are routinely available in Oklahoma garden centers, including a few examples below.

The twoneedle pinyon has a Early Summer bloom period. Propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed, the fruit/seed period of the twoneedle pinyon lasts from Summer to Fall.

Surviving in temperatures above -31°F, the twoneedle pinyon is in the Pine family. It’s scientific name is Pinus edulis, and it has a High drought tolerance.

The twoneedle pinyon requires between 9 and 27 inches of rain per annum. It is Native to OK.

While a plant may be listed as fruit-bearing in Oklahoma, you might not have the best growing conditions in your specific area.

Talking to your local garden supplier is a great way to learn more about the plants, shrubs and ground species that will be the perfect fit for your new food forest.
