About Elko County Food Forests

You might find the following plants in a Nevada food forest. These are all routinely available through many garden suppliers.

The fruit/seed period of the russet buffaloberry runs from Summer to Fall. It si propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed and has a bloom period in Late Spring.

In areas with an annual rainfall of between 15 and 30 inches, you might find the russet buffaloberry, which is Native to NV.

Known as having a High drought tolerance, the russet buffaloberry (Shepherdia canadensis) is in the Oleaster family. It requires a minimum temperature of -63°F.

Not every plant species listed as a food forest candidate in Nevada will thrive in your specific climate or area.
