Known as having a Medium drought tolerance, the beaked hazelnut (Corylus cornuta) is in the Birch family. It requires a minimum temperature of -47°F.
The fruit/seed period of the beaked hazelnut runs from Summer to Fall. It si propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed and has a bloom period in Early Spring.
In areas with an annual rainfall of between 20 and 80 inches, you might find the beaked hazelnut, which is Native to MI.
Not every plant species listed as a food forest candidate in Michigan will thrive in your specific climate or area.
