The Russian olive is propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed. With a bloom period in Early Summer, the fruit/seed period begins in Summer and ends in Fall.
The Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia) is in the Oleaster family. It’s drought tolerance is High and requires a minimum temperature of -38°F.
The Russian olive is Introduced to ME. It requires precipitation between 12 and 40 inches of rain annually.
While a plant species may generally thrive and fruit in Maine, you may be in a climate that isn’t optimal.
Consult your local garden supplier or continue researching in order to find plants, shrubs and ground cover that match your specific hardiness zone, rainfall and direct sun.
