Known as having a Low drought tolerance, the northern mountain ash (Sorbus decora) is in the Rose family. It requires a minimum temperature of -50°F.

The fruit/seed period of the northern mountain ash runs from Fall to Fall. It si propogated by Seed and has a bloom period in Early Summer.

In areas with an annual rainfall of between 16 and 51 inches, you might find the northern mountain ash, which is Native to MA.

Not every plant species listed as a food forest candidate in Massachusetts will thrive in your specific climate or area.
