You might find the following plants in a Louisiana food forest. These are all routinely available through many garden suppliers.
In areas with an annual rainfall of between 30 and 75 inches, you might find the aloe yucca, which is Native to LA.
Known as having a Medium drought tolerance, the aloe yucca (Yucca aloifolia) is in the Century-plant family. It requires a minimum temperature of -1°F.
The fruit/seed period of the aloe yucca runs from Fall to Winter. It si propogated by Bare root, Container, Cuttings, Seed and has a bloom period in Early Summer.
