About Madison County Food Forests

Known as having a High drought tolerance, the sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) is in the Grass family. It requires a minimum temperature of 47°F.

The fruit/seed period of the sorghum runs from Summer to Fall. It si propogated by Seed and has a bloom period in Late Summer.

In areas with an annual rainfall of between 18 and 60 inches, you might find the sorghum, which is Introduced to ID.

Not every plant species listed as a food forest candidate in Idaho will thrive in your specific climate or area.
