The fruit/seed period of the beaked hazelnut runs from Summer to Fall. It si propogated by Bare root, Container, Seed and has a bloom period in Early Spring.

Known as having a Medium drought tolerance, the beaked hazelnut (Corylus cornuta) is in the Birch family. It requires a minimum temperature of -47°F.

In areas with an annual rainfall of between 20 and 80 inches, you might find the beaked hazelnut, which is Native to AL.

Not every plant species listed as a food forest candidate in Alabama will thrive in your specific climate or area.

Take a weekend trip to your local garden supply store and learn more about which plants, shrubs and ground cover will be a great fit for your food forest.
